Design vs. Drift

Most people don’t choose a life they don’t want.
They drift into it — quietly, unintentionally, over time.
Drift doesn’t feel dramatic. It often looks like busyness. Responsibility. Doing what comes next. One season blending into another.
Design, on the other hand, doesn’t require certainty. It only requires attention.
One of the ideas I keep coming back to is this: it takes a great deal of force to change direction once we’re already in motion.
Like trying to turn an aircraft carrier — inertia keeps us going straight ahead unless we intervene.
That’s why drift is so powerful. And why design is so rare.
A question to sit with this week
Where in your life are you currently operating by default rather than by design?
You don’t need a full plan. Just notice one area — and name what’s true right now versus what you want instead.
That’s where design begins.
Warmly,
Tammy
